Reminder about the Cystic Fibrosis Tasting on Friday
This camera phone picture was sent to me by customer, Elaine, of she and her great-granddaughter Maddie. Maddie has cystic fibrosis, and Elaine was saying that she was so glad we were going to the tasting. What an email and a moment to stop and really think about what I’m doing. I don’t know if I’ll actually be able to communicate what I felt when I received the email, so bear with me here.
Until I recieved Elaine’s email, this tasting was all about the marketing for our winery. Trying to get the word out about ourselves and letting people try our great wines. I definitely wasn’t thinking too much about helping a good cause; just giving it lip service I guess. So Maddie’s cute little smile made me realize what an impact we can have on each other with our simple, everyday actions. Something I would do for the marketing of my business is going to help someone like Maddie. I don’t know, this is a somewhat humbling realization. So I guess I’m going from feeling like this tasting is “just another part of the job”, to a deep appreciation that I get to do my job. Know what I mean?
Well, if not, thanks for bearing with me anyways! If you would like to go to the tasting, drink wine, eat food, have fun, and feel good about it to boot; just buy a ticket! The tasting is this Friday, September 22 from 7-9:30pm at St. Louis City Hall (1200 Market St.). Tickets are $45 in advance or $55 at the door. To purchase tickets, call 314-721-2490 or email ceifert@cff.org
Speaking of tastings; last night I worked a small one at Sayersbrook Bison Ranch in Potosi, MO. Have you ever stood next to a male bison? They are enormous, gigantic – ginormous! Here’s one sitting in his field; I’m sure he must be named Ferdinand….if only I had some roses to throw his way…sigh.
