I debated whether to post this on my personal blog or here on the winery blog. Since it pertains to yesterday’s post I’ve decided to add it here, and hope you get a laugh at it!
After yesterday’s blog post went up on our winery’s facebook fanpage, my friend Shelly made a comment that an alternate name for the surprise lily is ‘naked ladies’ (I have to agree with Shelly’s daughters – naked ladies really is much more fun to yell out when you see these flowers!).
However, after reading her comment, I thought of last week’s controversial decision by the Alabama state liquor control to ban the selling of this winery‘s wines because it features a naked nymph on the label. And then the horrible realization came over me that yesterday, I subjected you all to a whole bunch of naked ladies all over our home page. SHAME on me! Oh dear. I just want to assure you all that I will do my best to keep such pornography off of our website from now on.
As a side note, I think Alabama needs to add Cleavage Creek Cellars to their list of banned wines. I mean, just look at this logo:
AND they should probably be sure to prominently feature this wine in all stores:
Wine labels are certainly creative these days. What’s your favorite fun wine label?

Before you go judging Cleavage Creek wines, do your homework first.
The owner lost his wife of 48 years to breast cancer. He bought the Cleavage Creek label and donates 10% of gross sales to breast cancer research.
On the label of every bottle of Cleavage Creek wine is the picture of a breast cancer survivor. Her story is told on the Cleavage Creek website to inspire others. http://www.CleavageCreek.com
Cleavage Creek has donated over $55,000 to breast cancer research.
Cleavage Creek wines are for sale in Alabama and they are well supported there.
What are you doing to fight breast cancer ?
Get your facts straight before you go judging a wine without knowing about its label.
Well, apparently my sarcasm didn’t come through very well.
I know all about Cleavage Creek and love not only their humor, but also the fact that they are committed to a worthy cause. That is not at all what I was saying in that post.
What I am not in love with is the Alabama liquor control board that banned the Cycles Gladiator wine based on it’s label. I would be on strong watch if I lived in that state and writing to my legislators, because if their moral compass says that the CG wine label is ‘bad’ than what’s to stop them from deciding other wine labels, such as cleavage creek, are also bad and therefore need to be banned?
Thank GOD they don’t have control over what books are allowed to be sold in that state!!!
So just to be clear, in my post I was being sarcastic. I was not making a judgement on Cleavage Creek (or on the moral compass wine either for that matter). Finally, I am making a judgement on the prudes who banned the CG wine.
Cheers,
Katie
