I keep meaning to show you a closer look at Julie’s project for the Tour of Missouri booth. Here she is showing off the bike wheel with a few of the spoke decorations made during the expo last weekend:
If you want to make these fun decorations with your kids, then just drink a bottle of wine (one that had a cork in it!). Then cut a slit down the long side of the cork. The cut will have to go slightly deeper than half-way through. Then use permanent markers to decorate. Finally, carefully slip the decorated corks onto the spokes.
Now, for the blog candy.
My neighbor Rob and our friend Bob got together and had a special barbecue/smoker pit built using an old tank. Here on Highway T in Steelville, we are all about recycling. We are even more about eating though! We tried out the grill last weekend, and had a fabulous time. Here’s a view of the pit:
Oooooo aaaaahhhh…the round part at the left is the grill section, and the box for the fire is just to the right of it. The large box on the right is a storage bin. Old horseshoes (recycling!!!) were used for towel and bbq tool holders. And for handles. And for door props, and for….well, you get the idea! Rob had lots of horseshoes to use up!
Here’s a view of the chicken that was smoked the other day in this contraption:
mmmmmmmmm!
So Rob’s wife Karen would like to name this bbq smoker trailer doohickey and here is where the blog candy comes in. Leave a comment on this blog post by Monday September 21 at midnight with a possible name. If Rob and Karen like your name the best, you’ll win a Peaceful Bend t-shirt. If this is your first time commenting here, you’ll have a quick registration approval and then you’ll be all set to make any other comments in the future without any wait to see your post.
Now, mind you, Rob and Karen are just choosing their favorite name from all the submissions. I can’t guarentee that the winner’s suggestion will be the final name for the pit. But we look forward to reading all the possibilities and we promise to seriously consider the winner’s submission. So let’s hear those bbq pit names folks – good luck and Cheers!
