Well, I’m sorry to say that this is a sad post tonight. Our 13 year-old chocolate lab, Hey Jude, died on her way back home from one last hike to the river this morning. The wine garden and my morning hikes will be a little lonely without her now.
If anyone feels like leaving a story about your experiences with Jude in the comments section, I’d sure love to read them. She definitely loved all the attention (and sausage too!), that all our winery guests lavished on her throughout the years. She was such a sweetheart of a dog, and I’m so thankful that we had her for so many years.
I’m feeling especially thankful and a little more introspective this year. We love being able to make wine, and you are the reason we are here and able to create our products. I know it’s been a tough go for many folks out there this year, and I’m just so thankful that you have all still visited and encouraged us along the way. Thank you all so much for your business, friendship, and good spirits throughout this year. May this weekend bring you and your family many blessings.
If you are thinking of ways to entertain family this weekend, please keep a trip to Peaceful Bend in mind. Our tasting room is closed on Thanksgiving day, but we’ll be open the next day for our normal hours throughout the weekend. I’ll keep a pot of mulled wine going and would love to chat with you while you’re here.
If you don’t want to travel this far, Julie is working a few tastings in St. Louis this coming weekend which would be a fun distraction for everyone too. She will be at Missouri Mercantile on 11-28-09 from 3-6pm and the next day (Saturday) she’ll be at Missouri Wine and Gift from 1-4pm.
And just in case you haven’t decided which wine to serve with dinner…..my three favorite picks for Thanksgiving dinner are the Whittenburg, the Huzzah Valley, or if you’re in a dry red mood, the Forche Renault. I have all three available in a really neat gift box at a special 20% discount until November 30. Click here for more information.
I’ll also be trying out our Courtois with dinner this year, and I think it’ll be a great pairing. I’ll report back on Friday about that little experiment! (It’s tough work, but I think I’m up for it.)
Have a very happy Thanksgiving everyone! Cheers!
Looks like the sunshine will be with us all weekend, which is a welcome change from the first part of this week! Come on out to the winery and enjoy a few rays with us while you pick out your wine for Thanksgiving.
Or go by the Desoto Knights of Columbus hall for a special fundraiser for the St. Rose of Lima School. I’ll be there along with other Missouri wineries & breweries for a tasting starting at 7pm. Tickets are $20 each, and can be purchased at the door. Call 636-586-0023 for more information.
And an update on our schedule next week…we will be closed on Thursday November 26 for Thanksgiving; but I’ll be open for our normal hours again on Friday.
