Goodbye Hey Jude

Well, I’m sorry to say that this is a sad post tonight.  Our 13 year-old chocolate lab, Hey Jude, died on her way back home from one last hike to the river this morning.  The wine garden and my morning hikes will be a little lonely without her now.

If anyone feels like leaving a story about your experiences with Jude in the comments section, I’d sure love to read them.   She definitely loved all the attention (and sausage too!), that all our winery guests lavished on her throughout the years.   She was such a sweetheart of a dog, and I’m so thankful that we had her for so many years.

Oh Katie, I am so sorry! Jude will be missed big time on my visits to Peaceful Bend. She was such a sweetheart. I’m sure you, Clyde, Julie, Maggie & Pepe are already missing her. I spent several mornings on the porch of the cottage drinking coffee and hanging out with Jude, not to mention several days and nights on the porch of the winery feeding her sausage and cheese. All the kids in heaven are going to love her, that’s for sure! Big hugs your way!!!

Your photos are a most fitting memorial to Jude. She had some of the same traits I admired in a dog I had during my teen years, Dutchess. After being parted form them for a long time, each would come roaring out barking at me, and then turn sheepish when I was recognized! I kinda hope both Dutch and Jude are there when I cross so they can show me the best squirrel trees.

Katie…we met you only recently while staying at a cabin nearby. We were so impressed with your winery and can’t wait to bring our parents. A lasting memory were your sweet sweet dogs and we are so sorry to hear about Jude…she was beautiful just the little bit we saw of her and we know how hard it can be to lose a pet. Can’t wait to come back with the family and visit.

So happy to have found your little piece of heaven!

Thanks for sharing your memories everyone. It really means a lot to us to read that you all enjoy our pets as much as we do!
