Poor Clyde came down with a nasty stomach disease yesterday and is spending the day on the couch recuperating. So this seems like the perfect opportunity to take the time to update everyone on last weekend’s concert.
Unfortunately, most of my pictures came out pretty blurry. But I’m going to make you suffer through three pics anyways! Here’s Bogdan Jianu while he performed his solo during the first half of the concert:
And Burkhard played a violin solo just after the intermission:
And after Burkhard finished, Eugenia Zukerman took the stage for a flute solo:
Once the flute solo was over, the trio of musicians took the stage to play together again. Here’s the video I captured of the second movement of the Beethoven trio:
After they finished this piece, the musicians were encouraged to do a encore, so they played the best version of Claire de lune. It was so beautiful, but I was determined NOT to cry this year. Only small sniffles were allowed. Mom said that she’s never really liked Claire de lune until she heard these three play it Saturday night; they certainly captured everyone’s heart with their finale!
We have a lot of people and organizations to thank for the concert this year. First and foremost, the musicians! And to all of the people that came – thank you too!!
The concert was organized by Arts Rolla – led by the amazing Loretta Wallis. Thank you Loretta! And major funding was provided by Paula & Terry Brewer of Brewer Science – our thanks for making this concert a possibility (and also for those hello dolly bars. yum!). Also at Brewer Science, Renee Rodgers kept us all organized and dealt with lots of details for us that made life so much easier. She also had the forethought to bring pizza – thank you Renee! KMST was the advertising sponsor this year and Eventful Catering (St. Robert, MO) provided delicious appetizers as well as the delightful decorations. Finally, the Missouri Arts Council provides funding to Arts Rolla, and our thanks go out to that board as well.
If you haven’t watched the video yet, I suggest that you pair the performance with a nice glass of Meramec or Sweet River White. Cheers!
