Meramec Morning

I try to take our dogs for a hike down to the river each morning.  For the last week, I’ve been kicking myself for not bringing my camera along, but this morning I finally remembered to take it.  Here are a few of the shots I took along our river frontage this morning:

Bring your hiking shoes with you next time you visit the winery, and you can check out scenes like this in person.  It’s about a 1/2 mile to get down to the Meramec, and it’s definitely a bit of a rough trail.  But worth the walk for scenes like that, don’t you think?!  Cheers!

Busy Weekend

The weather looks like it will fabulous this weekend, so plan to come on out and join us here at Peaceful Bend!  Or, you can visit with Julie and I over the weekend at a couple of tastings that we are traveling to.

I’ll be in Rocheport MO tonight for the Winestroll from 4-8pm.  Look for me at the Art, Antiques, and Blacksmith shop on the corner of Third and Pike streets.

Tomorrow, Julie will be joined by a few friends at our booth in the Food and Farmers Expo in the Webster Groves Recreation Complex from 10am-4pm.

It should be a fun weekend of friends, wine, and fantastic weather – looking forward to seeing you!

What to do, what to do?

For a dog, it’s kinda boring around here when visitors aren’t around.

They just lay around, bored to sleep.

But there is always something that comes up to bring a little excitement to the day.  Like a couple of weekends ago when my neighbors, Crystal and Gerald Earhart, came over on their new carriage.

I hopped in the back of the carriage and took a short ride while Pepe and Maggie played around the wagon with the Earhart’s dogs.

Doesn’t it look like Pepe and Mac the horse are just chatting away in that picture?  In reality, Pepe is trying to figure out how to get to the other side of Mac where all the other dogs were running!

Crystal and Gerald own a couple of guest cabins across the road from the winery called Murphy’s Place.  They are hoping that Mac and this carriage will be able to whisk their guests to the winery and back in the future.  Mac is still getting used to his new responsibilities, but I was super impressed how calm and cool he acted with four dogs playing right around his feet during my ride.  Hopefully we’ll also be able to offer rides to winery guests on the weekends too.  I’ll keep you posted.  Cheers!
