WWWW #23
Wow, there was lots to read about in the world of wine this past week. Better grab a couple of glasses if you want to read through all of these!
First up I have a personal-interest site to share…I was excited to see this week that one of our favorite artists has a website! If you liked our Grapes of Raft label, then be sure to check out Jane Johannsen’s website here. Jane posted many examples in her gallery of her beautiful modern impressionist oil paintings.
O.K., now I’ll go into wine-related articles….
The economic news for the wine industry is looking good these days. The LA Times reports that wine exports were at an all-time high in 2011. And at the same time the U.S. leads the world in wine consumption.
Wine and health was also in the news. Here’s a quick blurb about the possibility of wine preventing macular degeneration. And WebMD ran an article last week about what mechanism in wine – alcohol or antioxidents – makes for heart health.
For those of you book lovers out there, Decanter.com reports that Magrit Mondavi is in the process of writing her memoirs. Apparently her memories are spicier than a bottle of Pinot Noir!
Finally, the video below shows how our barrel-maker, McGinnis Wood Products from Cuba MO makes their barrels. Very cool!
Have a great week everyone – cheers!
