First snow of 2017

Maggie & Pepe check out the Meramec river during the first snowfall of 2017

Does Pepe have a bad case of dandruff?  No, silly!  Actually, do dogs even get dandruff?  Hmmm.  In any case, all that white stuff on Pepe’s head and neck is our first snow of 2017, decorating his fur.

According to Aristotle, nature abhors a vacuum and after all the holiday decor around here was packed away Tuesday night, I guess Mother Nature decided to do a little brightening up of her own to fill the void.  These sycamore seed balls are the perfect natural ornament, all spruced up with snow!

Maggie had fun on a hike to the Meramec river with me on Thursday morning.  It’s so peaceful in the winter down at the bottom of our hills. Plus, there are plenty of squirrels to chase this year, so we both stayed entertained.

But somehow I think Pepe and Maggie both long for the day when we will have another tasting room and they can beg for treats instead of tromp through the snow with me!

Hope you are enjoying a peaceful, scenic start to 2017.

Wine Dogs Vs. Boyfriends

Our Black Labrador, Pepe, conversing with a winery visitor.

Who needs a boyfriend when....

Wine dogs vs. boyfriends…which one wins?  Or wines? 😀

Hope you can get out to see us this weekend.  I promise that Pepe and Maggie will never judge you for drinking wine and eating cheese anywhere….just as long as you are sharing!  Cheers!

Weekend Review

What a weekend this last weekend of September turned out to be!  Clyde and I had a great time visiting with so many return visitors, and new guests to Peaceful Bend. Thank you so much to everyone who made the weekend a great one.

September WeekendSaturday afternoon featured Brian Curran on the guitar and singing his special blend of blues, folk, and bluegrass. September Weekend

September WeekendEveryone enjoyed listening to him play and kindly posed for photographs for me! September Weekend

These folks may seem familiar to you – I think they have come to just about all the music we have hosted this year!

September WeekendClyde’s brother, Steve, has been visiting for the last two weeks. The two brothers spent Steve’s last afternoon at Peaceful Bend listening to the music, drinking wine, and laughing.  It was definitely a special afternoon for Clyde. September Weekend

On Sunday we hosted The Accomplices, all the way up from Savannah Georgia. The fiddle player, Colleen is from St. Louis and has played here at Peaceful Bend several times in the past. We were happy to welcome her back again.

September WeekendThis picture of a few of the guests on Sunday reminds me of a funny story. Connie was wiping down tables in the lower wine garden when that red Baptist church van (in the background) pulled up to the stage area. Connie thought ‘boy, are these folks lost!’ when she saw it. As it turned out, that is the van that The Accomplices use to travel!

Needless to say, Connie had a good laugh over it. Colleen told us that the band doesn’t get hassled near as much with this van than some of their other vehicles! September Weekend

Unfortunately, the weather gods weren’t with us on Sunday, as some light rain came in after the first break. But, as you can see, people just brought out the umbrellas and kept on enjoying the music.

September WeekendOf course, it wouldn’t be a winery weekend without a menagerie of dogs around!  Libby Loo had fun listening to Brian play on Saturday. September Weekend

I missed this pup’s name, but she certainly worked hard at the tricks on Sunday. Wine barrel sitting takes some patience!

September Weekend
And little Fluffy came in both Saturday and Sunday to enjoy the music.  I think I had as much fun this weekend as she has fur! 🙂

Thank you again to everyone who came out to see us this weekend.  And a huge thanks to Brian Curran and to The Accomplices for providing such wonderful entertainment!

If you missed this weekend, don’t worry – we have lots of upcoming events this fall that you can mark your calendar to attend.  Looking forward to seeing you soon!
