Wine and Halloween Candy Pairing Tips

Wine and Candy PairingAre you planning to grab a glass of wine while you hand out candy this Halloween?  If you’re anything like me, you’ll also be opening a few pieces of candy too.  After all, they’re just little packages. 🙂 Here are three of my tips for what types of wines pair well the different candies. • Dry white wines like our Dry Creek or Courtois need a candy with a little less sugar to it.  Think gummy bears, nerds, or starburst.  Plus the fruity flavors in the candy often match the citrus-y notes in the dry whites.
  • Red wines go with chocolate.  Do you have a dry red (Norton, perhaps)?  Search for those dark chocolate snickers or hershey’s bars to pair with the dry reds.  On the other hand, a semi-sweet red wine, such as our Yadkin Creek, or a sweet red wine calls for Reese’s Peanut butter cups, twix, or butterfingers.
  • Semi-sweet and sweet white wines such as our Whittenburg or Sweet River White are delicious paired with bit-o-honey, jolly ranchers, or the perennial autumn treat – candy corn!

I hope you enjoyed these wine and candy pairing tips.  Come by the winery on Halloween anytime between 11am and 6pm to enjoy our Just Here For The Boos Wine And Candy Pairing.  You’ll love treating yourself!
