Forché BBQ Sauce
OK, exciting news: National BBQ Day is FRI-YAY May 16! We can’t think of a better reason to chill out with friends in the comfort of your back yard. To honor this food holiday, we have a recipe for an easy BBQ sauce made with our Forche Renault wine.
Forché BBQ Sauce
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Forché Renault wine (or go for the Yadkin Creek if you would like a slightly sweeter sauce)
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- 1/3 cup finely diced white onion
- 2 cloves garlic, finely diced
- 2 Tablespoons chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions:
- Heat the olive oil in a medium size saucepan over medium and add the diced onions. Sauté the onions until translucent, then add the garlic and cook for another minute.
- Next, stir in the chili powder, ground mustard and dried red pepper flakes to the onion/garlic mixture. Sauté for another minute while stirring.
- Stir in the Forché Renault wine and increase the heat to bring it to a boil. Then reduce the heat and let simmer for 5 minutes or until liquid has reduced down by about 1/4.
- Finally stir in the ketchup, worcestershire sauce and apple cider vinegar. Let simmer for about 5 minutes. You can use this right away, or cool and store in the refrigerator for up to a month.
Now go light up those grills, pull out the basting brushes, load up on napkins, and oh yeah, fill your glass with some Peaceful Bend wine. Enjoy, and tag #pbvbbq on instagram with your results!
